KING GONDOPHARES
TRANSLATED AS GATHASPAR
IN ARMENIAN, BECAME GASPARD IN EUROPE.

Some writers have wrongly assumed that King Gondophares, mentioned in the Acts of Thomas, was one of the Magi. This confusion is due to the numerous manuscripts from the first centuries of Christianity that attest that Saint Thomas joined the Magi in their country, India, where the evangelization of Saint Thomas was the most significant.
