The peacock:
a reconstructed decorative element of palaces in Jaffna during antiquity.

The wheel of the peacock is often stylized in the cuts of the arcades of the palaces as much in the south of India as in Ceylon since Antiquity. A symbol of immortality, the peacock is very present in the mythology of Hinduism. In India, the peacock has a special status. People believe that when the bird spreads its tail, it indicates that rain is coming.
