THE CONFUSION BETWEEN GONDOPHARES AND GASPARD THE MAGUS WILL PERSIST FOR SEVERAL CENTURIES

"Historia Trim Regum/History of the Magi" (1375), considered in the Middle Ages as the reference biography on the Magi, mentions that Gaspard, the Magus, originated from Egrisoula, which was confused with Taksha-Silla (Taxila), the capital of King Gondophares. The German world map of Martin Behaim of 1492 reproduces the same error. Gaspard the Magus is wrongly located in King Gondophares' capital.
