END OF THE JOURNEY TO PIRAVOM IN SOUTH INDIA<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tNot far from the Malabar coast in Kerala lies Piravom, the place in India where the Magi are said to have settled for a time and were later baptized by Apostle Thomas. The church “Piravom Valiyapally” was built on the banks of the river where the Magi are said to have been baptized and claims to be the first Christian Church in the world and the only one built as a tribute to the Magi’s visit. Piravom comes from piravi, which means birth. The manuscripts “Revelation of the Magi” (3rd century), “Commentary on the Gospel according to Matthew of Chrysostom” (4th century), “Opus Imperfectum in Mattheum” (4th century) relate the meeting between Saint Thomas and the Magi.
