The Spanish bishop Lucas de Tuy (13th century) wrote: “When Herod learned that the Magi were transported by the ships of Tharsis, he ordered them to be burned. Denis the Carthusian (15th century), a Flemish theologian in the process of being beatified, also made his interpretation in his texts: “You will allow the ships of Tharsis to be burned by Herod, for this Prince (Herod), seeing that he was deceived by the magi, became very angry.
