THE APOCRYPHA AND
THEIR INFLUENCE ON
OUR POPULAR BELIEFS<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tThe Church does not recognize the so-called apocryphal books, but in the beginning, several of these gospels were cited as authentic and were even the only ones cited. The Church rejects the Apocrypha, but the Bible itself refers to these writings! The Apocalypse of Peter (2nd), attributed to the apostle Peter, enjoyed considerable authority in the beginning. The transcription of the Apocalypse of Peter into Arabic using the letters of the Syriac alphabet specifies the country of origin of the Magi. The Testament of Adam (2nd century) tells us of a treasure cave where the Magi went to take “the treasures that Adam had taken from paradise: gold, myrrh, and frankincense. As for the adoration of the Magi in a cave, it is mentioned in the Protoevangelium of James (2nd century), whereas the Bible speaks of a house. The cave mentioned in these Apocrypha will remain in the collective unconscious.\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
